James W. Thornton talks about his early education and his career as a professor of general education in various colleges. He also discusses his career at San Jose State College in the School of Education, teaching in the community college and as President Wahlquist's assistant. He goes on to discuss the Peace Corps volunteer project for the Philippines he was in charge of from 1962 to 1967.

Born in Eureka, California, H. Brett Melendy (1924-2008) spent most of his life in California and Hawaii. He received his Master of Arts in Education in 1948 and his Doctorate in History in 1952 from Stanford University. During this time, he also taught high school in Fresno, California.
